Congratulations to all students who met their individual reading goal in AR. These students will be honored on Friday, May 9th.
Reading
Reading will be intergrated with Science and Social Studies the next two weeks. We will be reading informational texts on Thermal and Sound Energy; Customs and Traditions from around the world this week. Next week we will be reading informational text on Natural Disasters
Language Arts/Writing
Students will learn how to combine sentences using conjunctions.
Students will compose a rough draft for their explanatory writing composition (favorite family tradition). Students will pair share rough drafts.
Math
Unit of Study: Liquid Capacity; Weight/ Mass
Students will explore with liquid capacity and weight in both customary and metric units.
Students will continue to identify math actions in story problems and solve using pictures, numbers and words.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD PRACTICING MULTIPLICATION FACTS TO THE 10'S EVERY NIGHT. THIS IS A PROMOTION REQUIREMENT.
We will do a timed multiplication fact quiz every morning. Students will move to the next level everytime they score a 100 on the 3 minute quiz.
Students will continue taking the timed multiplication fact promotion assessment every three weeks. Each time the promotion test is given it will count for a math grade. It will not count as a test grade, but as a daily work grade.

Important Information
- All students should read at least 20 minutes every night and write a letter to the teacher about the novel being read on Thursday night.
- Citizenship folders will be sent home every Friday.
- Please check your child's binder for work samples. Work samples will be kept behind designated tabs in your child's binder until the end of the grading period.

SCEINCE FAIR
Science Fair Projects are due on May 20th. Your child's homework will consist of reading a novel and working on his/her project. This week your child should be conducting the experiment portion of the project. Below is a link to the Science Fair Packet Requirements and other links to help assist you and your child. Remember that your child is NOT required to write a report for their project. Please refer to these links to help your child with completing the REQUIRED Science Fair Project. This project will count twice in Reading, Science and Language Arts. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
