Reading
Your child is responsible for reading at least 20 min. every night. They will respond to their nightly reading at least 3 days out of the week on the classroom wiki. I will monitor entries nightly.
LASSO A BOOK CALENDAR: Don't forget to sign every night on the Lasso a Book Calendar. The calendar will be due on March 28th. April will be the last calendar for the school year.
Reading Skill: Genre Review - Narrative Non-Fiction
We will review context clues; plot; sequence of events; and making inferences with textual support.
Students will continue to discuss in book chats (guided reading and Teacher Read Aloud) the following skills: main idea, supporting details, story's main events, summarizing, theme, story elements, character analysis, figurative language, context clues and making inferences.

Language Arts/Writing
Students will be editing and revising their Porquois Tale this week with a classmate.
Spelling Skill: We will review previous spelling patterns this week.

Math
Unit of Study: Time and Measurement Unit
Students will explore linear measurement in customary units. Students will measure to the nearest inch and 1/2 inch; nearest feet; yards and miles. Students will learn to convert inches to feet; feet to yards; and yards to miles.
Students will continue to identify math actions in story problems and solve using pictures, numbers and words.
We will begin STAAR review over the lowest scoring categories from our Math CDB.

PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD PRACTICING MULTIPLICATION FACTS TO THE 10'S EVERY NIGHT. THIS IS A PROMOTION REQUIREMENT.
We will do a timed multiplication fact quiz every morning. Students will move to the next level everytime they score a 100 on the 3 minute quiz.
CONGRATUALTIONS TO AUSTIN and KATIE! THEY HAVE PASSED ALL THE MULTIPLICATION TABLES AND ARE NOW WORKING ON DIVISION TABLES!
Starting the 3rd week of this grading period, students will be taking the timed multiplication fact promotion assessment every three weeks. Each time the promotion test is given it will count for a math grade. It will not count as a test grade, but as a daily work grade.
